Seaside Tales at Belle Shores Email

I recently encountered an interesting person while taking a walk down the boardwalk that runs along the beach just a few steps from our front door at Belle Shores Condominium. We ended up chatting for bit. He was recanting stories from the days of old at Rockaway. I am sure that there are but a precious few left the likes of this man. In any case, after speaking to him, it made me realize even more so just how special a place like this is, especially in New York City.  His story went something like this:

"Kid, I remember the days when flying was not so affordable and the beachfront areas of NYC were where the jetsetters would spend their summers and sip their martinis. Well overtime of course, with air travel becoming an affordable travel option and with jets that could get you there in a few hours, the city's beachfront areas started their decline and Florida became all the rage. Then of course  all the retiress flocked to the south and Florida in mass, like birds flying south for the winter. "

He then went on to tell me how "some of the Rocakway natives aren't too happy about  the revitaliztion of this place but most of us are thrilled and I couldn't be happer".  We couldn't agree more. As far as we can tell, andfrom all of the visitors we get, it's clear that people are excited and in fact overjoyed about what's going on along the boardwalk here. The glory days of old may just be around the corner and suddenly upon us once again.
